The Experimental Quantum Physics group at Potsdam University studies the interaction of light with small quantum mechanical systems on the femtosecond timescale.

We perform experiments using laboratory based ultrafast laser systems producing pulses in the femtosecond domain. We pioneer the use of vacuum ultraviolet and extreme ultraviolet light pulses for ultrafast research. In addition, we utilize ultrafast x-ray pulses at free electron lasers and ultrafast electron pulses for our research.

Our research is lead by Markus Guehr, funded by the Volkswagen Foundation via  the Lichtenberg Professorship: “Extreme ultraviolet probing of energy-conversion in photoexcited states”
